Zika, leprosy, and solitary isolation
Just kidding, I don't have zika or leprosy, I just needed a good title hahah. (I just got a "copy cat virus" of Zika that has all the same symptoms but just isn't zika. if that makes any sense haha. It does have a real nice rash that gave me great sympathy for the story of the lepers in the bible and kept me in for a nice solid couple of days though, so that was fun!!!)
And yet still, the work goes on.
For example, Damion should be getting baptized this week!!! We are so excited and can't wait for him, so keep him in your prayers because the week before baptism is always filled with lots and lots of opposition for investigators. Also pray that we will have water to fill up the font!!
But really, this week was more comical than anything. We seriously just had the funniest and most random things happen that are too good not to share:
- One random guy on the street was asking about the "white guy that you worship that lives in America," so we had a little lesson about prophets and President Thomas S. Monson and how we actually worship God. And we were leaving and they decided it was a great time to propose to us, but we told them that we don't get married as missionaries, and one guy was like "Oh come on, you can have a little love on your mission!! I'm sure Thomas won't mind!" Um actually I think he might.
- Another guy was trying to tell me that my eyes were gems of nature and my hair was like a bunch of nature (what does that even mean?) before telling Sister Fawson and I that "you're both so cute I just can't pick between you!" So we told him hey wow good thing you don't have to pick at all and he got really excited and said, "you mean I get both of you?!" (this happens a lot, can you tell? Creepy men everywhere. I'm working on not being completely exasperated every time they come up to us hahaha).
- A recent convert tried to convince our gospel principles class that Michael Jackson was a prophet and that he was from the tribe of Judah. Super fun to clean all of that up.
- We went to a lesson where for some reason the 7 year old girl decided to go completely insane and give us both makeovers with her mom's makeup. Really she just ended up attacking us with a makeup brush and let's just say it was a little difficult to get through the lesson haha. Also just know that black people makeup doesn't work too well when you're white (picture below)
This week I have been thinking about the importance of love and how we need to show love to everyone. We are asked to follow the example of the Savior and he performed the greatest act of love for everyone on earth, the atonement, so we have a lot to live up to. We can never repay Him for the atonement, but we can seek to have charity in our lives. Try and show a little love this week!!
Speaking of which, love you all(:
