it's been a whirlwind of a week haha #MatthewStrong
Everyone. I just want you to know that this has been the craziest week of my mission by far. Hands down. Uncontested. 100%. Let me tell you why:
- Hurricane Matthew. It was supposed to hit us Sunday night at category 5 (category 3 can rip a roof off) so we were slightly concerned, but not as much as our mission president who had all the sisters go and stay with senior couples beginning on Saturday after conference. So we waited. And slept. And played card games. And sang 'Master the Tempest is Raging.' And ate. And slept. And talked. And read scriptures. And read 'Refuge from the Storm' from last conference. And slept. And we waited FOUR DAYS AND THE HURRICANE DIDN'T COME. Ha. I literally went insane hahahah. Jamaicans went crazy though telling everyone that we're a chosen people and God loves us more than everyone else (Matthew swerved and hit several other countries that will not be named hahaha)
- Transfer calls. I have been here in Hopeton for one transfer and they got this crazy idea to send me to Portmore (a city right next to Kingston) and have me be one of four STLs on the island. Um what. I feel super inadequate for this calling and am sad to leave this wonderful branch and my lovely companion Sister Fawson but am excited to move forward!
- Driving in Jamaica. Due to circumstances out of our control, I was told I needed to start driving on Wednesday. WHAT. The truck + left side of the road + crazy Jamaican drivers + tiny pothole filled roads that don't fit two cars = somewhat stressed sister swindle. The Lord is oh so kind, though, and I have felt a lot of comfort while I've been behind the wheel. It's actually pretty fun to lay down the horn whenever you want hahaha.
- Remember how Damion is the most solid recent convert of all time? He's getting called into the branch presidency in the next couple weeks. Case closed.
"Brethren, shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory!" D&C 128:22 When the Lord is on your side, there's nothing you can't do. Have a great week!
ora et labora,
Sister Swindle
