Gunshots? Fireworks? Ehhh don't care

SISTER SWINDLE'S STATISTICAL REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE:
In one day I:
walk 3 miles
touch around 70 nasty bus and subway poles
hear the f-word every 4 seconds
be cancelled on around 18 times
walk up 103 stairways
drench my clothes with about 6 liters of sweat
be cat-called every 9 minutes
say hello approximately 2,485 times
Eat 48 frozen grapes

You probably weren't too interested in hearing any of that but there you go haha

Hello! I'll keep it short today!
What a wonderful week! Holidays are slightly awkward on missions because no one wants to talk to you, but besides that we had a great 4th of July!  The streets were eerily quiet and it was a pretty cool temperature so just kind of a weird day in general, but we had a zone meeting and got to wear our fabulous Bronx pants so no complaints here!

As for investigators! So wow you have missed a lot. Wow. Um so let's just say that Joanna's bap date was supposed to be this Saturday but then there were some complications with her awful Bronx boyfriend (current and past) anddd it got pushed back. BUT. We have this marvelous tool called fasting, and on Sunday joanna leaned over to me and sister Atkinson in the middle of a completely unrelated lesson and was like "hey, if Rico moves out(they're in the process of getting married right now) then I won't have anything standing in the way of my baptism?" And we were like WOW YEP FINALLY. And she kicked him out!!! Woohoo!! Unfortunately we still have some things to work through with her, so we're still not sure when her baptism date will be (let's just say I've dreamed about teaching repentance to people for the past week hahahaha).

So one thing I have been thinking about a lot this week as I have started the Book of Mormon over again and reading in 1 Nephi is the difference between the righteous and the wicked. In the scriptures, there is one word that is ALWAYS associated with 'the good guys' and one word ALWAYS associated with 'the bad guys.' Are you ready for the secret to how to succeed in life?! The words are REMEMBER and FORGET. If you remember your Savior and all the blessings you have seen in your life, you will not go astray!
So just think about that for a minute and try and see what you can better remember in your life.

hello I got permission to send you a quick update! I am staying at a lovely welsh senior couple's home in Mandeville and they said we may potentially be here till Saturday.....HAHAHAHA I AM GOING INSANE. We literally have nothing to do and I am going crazy crazy crazy crazy. We get to watch conference when the wifi works, so so far we just have the last session left. I get to be with Sister Afemata and some other lovely sisters, so that is wonderful. Honestly I just hope we get hit by the hurricane and not Haiti because they've suffered way too much. Happy Halloween! Or not....

Another exhausting/wonderful/hot/exciting week in Portmore! #missionlife Some exciting things or just totally random thoughts from this week: 1. I think it's important to note that I ate cow skin and chicken foot soup and survived. I also had pig tail and that was exciting. (It's true when they say your stomach gets set apart too) 2. We had a cute Jamaican sister stay with us for a couple days before we took her to the airport to go to the Provo MTC and then to her mission in Cape Verde! That was the closest I'll ever get to training probably haha. She was darling though and it was fun to trio. The more sisters the merrier! 3. There are butterflies everywhere here. It makes me happy :) 4. Just about everything we do here as missionaries is for the end goal of having a temple on the island someday. People have to sacrifice so much to fly to either Panama or the Dominican Republic and there are faithful members that have never been able to go to the temple. It absolutely brea...
