Every shake in Jamaica is a protein shake
Because ants. That's all I have to say. (they're everyyyyyywhere)
HELLO everyone, hope you had a great week, I sure did! Mostly because I tried all this new delicious food like bun and cheese, bullah, passion fruit, and stringy mangos. JAMAICAN FOOD IS INCREDIBLE and that's coming from the pickiest eater ever so you better believe it hahah!
I also got to go to Savannah La Mar this week for splits with the STLs and it is JUST GORGEOUS. It was my first time seeing the Carribbean and wowwww. Man. It's amazing. I love the more city atmosphere there too!
This week we have been working hard, surprise! We found out that they are taking the other sisters out of Hopeton and we will be covering both areas, so we will be working harder this week too!!! We are excited though to get lots of new people, we have been straight finding and teaching first lessons while I've been here so I'm excited to see people start progressing!
Funny stories from this week:
1. Read introduction to the BOM with a lady that was convinced that Moroni was trying to steal the glory from Mormon and stole the plates from him. Um....no?
2. Met with two crazy rasta guys (they didn't tell us that till half way through the lesson, thanks guys) named Danny and Denny that were incredibly in sync and talked over each other for a solid fifteen mintues without the slightest pause to let us start the lesson. And their patois was so thick I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING hahahaha it was so so funny.
3. We were out walking the streets one night and all of the sudden we hear screaming and yelling from EVERYWHERE around us and we run up to someone and were like "what happened???" and they were like BOLT JUST WON ANOTHER GOLD MEDAL and then they kicked us out of their house because no one wants to see us when the Olympics are on hahahaha.
4. We went to this tiny village and NO ONE WAS THERE and then we got out of our lesson and all of the sudden the whole population was there and partying and smoking and staring at us. it was bizarre. ahahah
Jamaica is wonderful. I love it. The people are awesome and I'm getting more used to the culture.
Have you every thought about repentance about any individual change you make to come closer to Christ? Sometimes we think we need to repent only when we've committed huge sin, but we should be changing something every day to be more like him. So if you read two verses a day instead of one, congrats you're repenting!! Try and change something every day this week to come closer to him, and notice how good you will feel!!
Love you all, hope you know that a crazy Jamaican loves you!!!
ora et labora,
Sister Swindle
