It's all good in the hood (literally)
HELLO HELLO! What a great week, I hope you had a good one as well! I'll just share some highlights from these last 7 days!
1. Set a bap date with Michelle! She's a lady that hermanas tracted into a while ago and then finally referred to us. We met with her this past week and she wanted to come to church since she had been to a ward in Manhattan before....but didn't quite appreciate the of a Bronx ward haha. But then we met with her and we're like we need you! Each ward has its diversities and then invited her to be baptized and she said yes! Woohoo!
2. A man in a bus was quizzing us with trivia and I learned that the Bronx is only 1 of four official places that begin with 'the' (the Bronx, the Vatican, the Netherlands, the democratic Republic of the Congo). Well the things you learn in THE Bronx hahahaha
3. I officially became a Bronx missionary after stepping in a puddle of both urine and throw up on the same day #theprojects
4. Elder Bennet of the 70 came this week!!! I learned so much but came away with a new motto: work harder, be bolder, and be exhausted in the work of Christ! (That was all me if you're interested in quoting it)
5. We were looking people up down by Yankee Stadium on Saturday night whem there was a game and I officially realized I am terrified of white people. Yep. And it's not just me either, or apartment have whole conversations on how hard it is to talk to white people.
6. Also down by Yankee Stadium we got caught in the shortest but wettest rainstorm I have ever been in. We felt like the classic missionaries/mailmen, going to do the work through rain or snow or any bout of weather thrown at us. See picture below.
7. Sunday was glorious! We had 5 investigators and 6 recent converts and less actives come to church, and then I had my first member meal with the wonderful Matthews. It took me right back home and made me so happy!
8. Had a church tour with cheryl and she loved it! (the spirit in the chapel will never fail you!) Plus it was just a great experience in general! (except for when cheryl asked me if I was pregnant hahaha. Morning workouts just got real) Haha she stopped in front of the picture of Christ being baptized and was like wow I just had the most incredible feeling I've never felt that before! And we were like great, wanna be baptized? And she was like I don't know baby girl, I gotta do the will of the Lord and I don't know if this is what he wants me to do etc etc etc. I guess we will work on the whole good feeling=spirit=will of the Lord thing!
Well have a great week! And thanks for all your emails, they definitely make my day!!
